starting a chess club

You should decide what kind of club it will be. (Online etc.) And you should decide when it will meet.
If it is not online, I think the first thing you should do is nail down a meeting place.
Coffee shops are often sympathetic, if your members are buying food and drinks anyway. Libraries and colleges provide a cheaper alternative. In a town of only 25,000, how will you find the first half-dozen members? Do you have a few friends you already play?
How do you start one on this site? Do you need more than the basic membership?
i am now retired and able to devote a lot of time to my favorite game (chess). i am getting ready to start a chess club. what should be the first thing i should do ?
