My pre tournament favorites were Tatev, and Nazi. Annie is the feel good story of the event, but im going with Nazi.

The 2 games will likely be even. I don't see Annie giving it away. The armageddon match might determine it. 5 minutes for white and only 4 minutes for black. Black wins the championship in the even of a win or draw. I think Nazi said she definitely wanted black in that position. I think I would too. That will probably determine the championship. I don't see why the armageddon match. Why not have an extra match if needed and the third would be championship game if necessary? It will be a shame to lose 2 weeks of work on a draw.
I'm still going Annie, but looking back at her games, she missed tons of tactics and just managed to squeak by somehow. Nazi has been playing excellent chess and is probably in better form.

She was good, Annie had every opportunity to win it. Nazi deserved it in the end. I didn't quite agree with the Armegeddon game, but if anything, Annie was in the better position getting the win with a draw, so I felt she was in a better spot to win it all. I think it should have been just best of three games, but it is what it is. Congrats to the champions, Sam and Nazi!
Annie Wang is so close to winning the women's US Chess championship. She is going into the last round with a half point lead. I have been rooting for her and when she got past Irina Krush, I thought it would be hers, but Nazi Paikidze is right on her. Paikidze has white against an easy opponent. Annie has black and should get at least a draw. I foresee a playoff and possibly Nazi sneaking this title away.
