I'd say that's likely the majority -- at least it is in my experience here.
Any casual chess players?

I used to make my living as a professional gambler and I've been to 2 tournaments, does that make me hardcore?

I've had the same impression, but I think that's because the hardcore people are the ones posting in the forums, casual players not so much. Me, I've never been to a tournament. I would like to play the bongcloud in one though.

I have not a clue what would have given you that idea . . . likely looking for some patz to gamble with.
;p

I played in only a few tournaments when I was younger, and none in the last years. However, I play a lot of chess (mainly online) and study some.

I play casually (at the club and some here) and in some local (to me) tournaments. Tourneys are a decent way to get OTB play in with people that aren't all from your area.

It seems there's a lot of hardcore tournament players in this forum, anyone actually just plays chess without entering tournaments/gambling or having a chess related job?
It sounds like you're equating tournaments with gambling. I don't understand that comparison. What do you think gambling has to do with chess?
I pretty much couldn't find anyone in real life to play chess with so I started playing online, I might enter a tournament in the future just to experience what it feels.I play chess to avoid reality mostly

I'm not, I'm just pointing out what my definition of hardcore players are
Hadnt played chess for almost 10 yrs since my sons were born. Have taught one to play. Used to be a card carrying member ot the Waukesha chess club. Am currently unemployed and started playing here last week. Is that casual enough for you?
I am quickly learning to ignore the condesceding, know-it all, Holier Than Thou, sarcasm and general ignorance of Ivandh

You could count on one hand the number of OTB tournaments I have entered. Tournaments are not my thing. I am a casual player.
