Hmmm..interesting.
Most creative and great players are scorpios like me ;)
I am a Pisces and really appreciate Astrology because of it. Whenever people read horoscopes they laugh and say, "Oh it's all a load of rubbish", but every time I read them I can most relate to the Pisces sign and sometimes Aquarius which I was a few days away from being. Great article, made me appreciate Fischer a lot more.
CELESTIAL CHESS GALAXY
By Joyce Jillson
Bobby Fischer is a Pisces, one of the most complex signs of all. Pisces is the 12th and last sign of the zodiac and is said to be the summation of all the signs coming before it. The Piscine icon depicts two fish, swimming in opposite directions, alluding to their “hard to pin down” nature. These individuals have the ability to look at life, chess and everything in-between from every possible perspective. This creates an exceptional ability to see things from another’s point-of-view. Thus Pisceans can be extremely sympathetic and compassionate, but also extremely manipulative. In chessic terms Bobby can use this personality quirk to metamorph into anything that life, or a chess situation, calls for. Those who have and will play him must realize they are not playing a singular Fischer but a multi-personality chameleon.
Many of the great film heroes and heroines of the past (when movie stars had a mystique) were born under this sign, probably because Pisceans have an innate ability to “become” someone else on screen, or elsewhere for that matter. Fischer’s chart has this aspect in spades. This configuration is highlighted showing that he can “become” his own opponent on several levels.
When he plays chess he can mentally hop from side of the board to the other with equal skill. Bobby does not look at a game of chess move by move as normal, or even other great grandmasters, would do. Fischer is more like a musical composer, thinking in terms of the arch of a piece, not the separate notes (moves). Fischer uses rhythms, throwing in some counterpoint and grace notes and finishes the game crescendo-ing into a fortissimo.
He sees each game as a total entity, and not just from one side or the other. In this universe he is god. Every new game, to him, is the dawn of creation. For this reason he constantly gets enormous pleasure playing games against himself. He is not playing but willing the pieces and the moves into existence. With his talent no opponent would consistently provide this much challenge.
Mars in Aquarius in his 6th house, the astrological house of daily living, shows there is always an opponent in Bobby’s life. While chess concretizes this notion that life is consumingly combative, Bobby sees everything in adversarial terms. “What shall he have for breakfast?” he might ponder, and he sees the array of choices as infinitesimal. The war going on in Fischer’s head is not a two-sided conflict, but a multilateral struggle. His personality is not just split, it is splintered.
These traits add interesting nooks and crannies to Fischer’s Piscine psyche. In Fischer’s chart his Mars, ruling his potency and potential, and his moon (in Taurus), which rules his emotions, clash. The hot-firey Mars does it best to fry the motherboard (the moon) in Fisher’s brain. Sometimes these two energy vectors bludgeon one another spooking the “real” Bobby.
His Taurus moon is a lusty, steadfast and positive factor. Notice it is placed at the top of his chart in the 10th house. Meaning: Enduring fame. He has and will always have the ability to capture the world’s imagination.
Leo rising gives him championship style. Regardless of if he wants to or not he is flamboyant. He is at his best when the chips are down and then all his inner “guardians” realize they must pull together for the “whole” Bobby to survive.
In the last years indulgent Jupiter has made Fischer too comfortable for his own good. His enigmatic disposition, already fragile, has been kept off balance. He fell off his horse, so to speak, and in trying to follow the old adage, to get right back up again and mistakenly jumped on a donkey.
But Zeus will once again shake things up in the year to come as this planet transits over Fischer’s ascendant and the disruption will do Bobby good. Bobby regains his stride in the 2002-2003 years and will come out and play a major match or make an even bolder foray into the world at large. If he ever wanted to settle things with the United States government, between now and 2004 influential friends and authorities would be able to, and want to, bend the rules for him.
Neptune is crossing into the upper hemisphere of his chart, entering the 7th house. There is some ambiguity here regarding old and new partnerships. Bobby could suddenly marry under this aspect or reveal that he already is married. The scenario could go like this: He marries and his wife then decides she’d like to live in the U.S. or at least visit. Incrementally her influence will begin to dominate his life and he’ll start venturing forth. Though he disdains any “system” or government, he is very cagey and can finesse politicians with the skill of a Washington lobbyist.
The marriage will smooth out many of his rough edges. Don’t expect him to become Mr. Congeniality but he may turn a blind eye to his wife’s efforts, which will revolve around financial matters. She’ll get a taste of the good life and Bobby will enter Stage Three of his life. Will she control him? Not really because in a lovely way their interests coincide. Though Bobby is no great lover, or even want to be one, (He’s actually quite passive in that department.) he will find her assistance essential as the years go by.
In the next year he’s going to become very finicky about what he eats, and an absolute cleanliness freak, if he’s not one already. There will be one product or a type of service that he desperately wants from the U.S. and though it can be imported he is getting increasingly frustrated at the difficulty he is having procuring his bounty.
Though he is always fielding lucrative chess offers, over the next three years he will receive some truly astonishing invitations. Talk of many millions of dollars as well as some other extraordinary perks will tempt his lady love and she will mediate negotiations so that Bobby gets an offer that starts his pulse racing.
Is he playing on line? The stars say not really, as he is more wrapped up in his own study and games. He does occasionally watch games on line. But then he’ll get disgusted and log off vowing never to waste his time again.
This mystery woman may or may not be with him now, but the person who would attract Bobby would have to have some Aries in her chart, for that’s where Bobby’s Venus is. Chess aficionados should welcome her involvement because she would lift the veil of sadness around him. Also, she probably will be very aggressive--in her own way--about getting Fischer the help he needs. It’s possible that during these next three years when he will amble out into the sunlight of the world community, he’ll find some medication or treatment for his unhappiness. This mental genius knows deep down that things aren’t right as they are now. Loving, non-critical support could reinstate this hagiological chess figure to his former glory and put the royal game back in the media’s crosshairs.
