Looking back to the original post, it's amazing how ignorant and resentful those old Russians sound! It's as if they grew up with the idea that there was only one way to be a great player, and when Carlsen came along and beat everyone while ignoring most of the "wisdom" of the Soviet School, it just blew their minds. Some two years later, all those predictions about how Carlsen wouldn't last, or was facing some kind of crisis seem stupider that ever.
BTW: When they said "No number one has ever played the opening so poorly," they were actually saying "no other number one has ever played the middle game and rnd game so well."
You would think really strong players would understand that, of course, you do everything it takes to win. It's really sad. They're totally bullshitting and they're trying to make their bullshit look credible.
