Found this while looking. so not a total loss.
Carmine Nigro
Thanks to you both! I had heard about Collins, but yesterday I read somewhere that Carmine Nigro was his only chess instructor, so I was wondering. It's so very strange there are no readily available photos of him online. He instructed Fischer for FIVE years, Fischer spent weekends at his house, and he was the one who regularly took Fischer to play chess in Washington Square Park! He was also an interesting person in his own right, excelling in a number of different areas, possessed a sort of Pied Piper appeal to children, but was fierce as soon as he sat down at the chess board. He taught chess (which he learned relatively late in life) and music "for the fun of it," had a band that was locally successful, became an accomplished golfer, etc.
I'm still looking for a photo of Carmine Nigro, Bobby Fischer's only chess instructor. Hmmm, I wonder why it is so hard to find, what with photos of nearly everyone in Fischer's life seemingly available . . .

Funny, now that you've posted in this thread I found this when I looked:

Goldendog found a photo of Carmine Nigro!!!!! It is evidently in the recent book "Endgame" by Frank Brady. I'd post it here except I'm not sure about copyright issues. Very nice looking, warm hearted appearing man! Thank you very much, Goldendog - much appreciated.
carmine was a good friend of mine, and he taught my boy for a while when he lived in florida after his retirement years... he was a nice man, and i have videos of him when we played together at our local club in lake worth, florida. his wife was very nice, and it was fun going over to their place in century village in west palm beach, and he would tell us cool stories about bobby--
here's a photo of carmine nigro in his younger years--

Can anyone tell me where I can find a photo of Carmine Nigro, Bobby Fischer's first (and only?) chess instructor? Such an important figure in Fischer's life and hence in chess history, but I'm having a hard time finding one online.
