A regular guy in Vegas bet $250 on the Cardinals to win the NL Pennant at 500 to 1 on 9/12. He won $125,000. He also bet $250 on the Cardinals to win the World Series at 999 to 1 on 9/12. On 9/12 the Cardinals were only 4 and 1/2 games behind the Phyllies. If the Cardinals win the poor sap is $375,000 richer. The Wise Guys missed these tickets at the MGM Grand.

If I were that guy I'd still be rooting for the Rangers. I'd donate the half mil to the Cubs to put as a down payment on Pujols next contract. Maybe he'll go into the HOF wearing a Cubs hat?

That's what they used to say about the Red Sox. The lowest point for a Red Sox fan... probably game 3 of the 2004 ALCS, right? And then the world changed. That was my wedding day.

Cardinals v Yankees... don't know who I'd root for there. I guess I'd root for something heartbreaking. In the 7th game. And I hate Clemens. I rooted for his arm to fall off when he was making his start for win #300.

I was an Expos fan. That's got to be at least an honorable mention. I mean, at least the Sox and Cubs fans can still delude themselves with hope for future success.
