He is only 23 so he has a good 30 to 40 years left in him
Do you think Magnus Carlsen will break the 3000 barrier

I really doubt it. The next highest rated player in the world, Aronian, is only at 2812, which means as Magnus approaches 3000 there would be almost a 200 point difference between him and #2. This would mean he would have to win almost all the games he plays against super-GMs, because a tie would significantly lower his rating.
If a few other players managed to reach the high 2800s, it might be possible, however.

I agree with Alexdyer. When you're at the top you can only play lower rated opponents, which doesn't gain many points. While even a draw can cost him plenty.

I think he can do it or at least come close to doing it. I think by the time he's 35 he will be 2900+

Are you basing this off of Fischer's biography? lol

Fischer was having the time of his life between 1972 and 1975. He went to the Philippines and was a VIP at important parties and sailed on yachts. He also spent time in other countries enjoying the culture and the locals and the cuisine. It was an interesting time in his life. But of course he ended up running away from chess
Ah I see. That definately must be the reason he quit chess.

No, Carlsen will never pass 3000. The math just doesn't work out.
This. There will come a point where drawing loses him points.

Well he could have an epic growth spurt it happens to chess players all the time it happened to nakurmara

This. There will come a point where drawing loses him points.
Every game he draws now loses him points. The thing is he can only maintain a certain win % against the elite. If there aren't a whole crowd around 2900 then it will be impossible. He isn't likely to just start scoring 85-90% all of a sudden. If he could he probably would break 3000.
Magnus carlsen had his peak rating at 2878.9 do you think its possible for Magnus to maintain a rating of over 3000?
