They played the Sicilian
Fischer, Kasparov-What caused them to go mad?
I'm not sure that you can place the same label of "insane" on Fischer and Kasparov.
well, they were certainly sore losers.
No matter. In the meantime we're all laying up some lovely points.
yes, i love member points
You use a non clinical word "insane" to describe a myriad of possible "mental disorders?"Insane being a non clinical word to describe a brain abnormality, which by rote also describes your inability to posit such a question? Sore loser is a street term to mean you can't describe the machinations of someone who is more passionate or dedicated then yourself?

I haven't read that long thread about Fischer, so I don't know much about him or especially Kasparov. I know their games but not their personalities. But I think chess players are losers. Me included. And it is not surprising to me if the best chess players are the sorest losers. Oh, well...
Really,? Robert James Fischer, famous chess player and his family had a long history of mental instability? You are in possession of certified documents to prove this point?
Alekhine, by whatever spelling, a sore loser? Is this anecdotal evidence, you were there to witness or is this jocular forum nonsense?

Nimzovitch once stood on a table after losing a game and screamed, "Why must I lose to this %$#$%%^^ idoit!"

well, they were certainly sore losers.
So? That doesn't make them "insane". Kasparov IMO is anything but "insane".
What caused Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov to go insane? They're both excellent chess players, yet the sorest of losers.
