FORCED RESIGNATION

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT I AM SICK OF PLAYERS TRYING TO BEAT YOU ON TIME WHEN THEY ARE CRUSHED. CERTAINLY WHEN THEY HAVE NO PIECES. IT IS SUCH A COWARDLY ACT WHEN YOU PURPOSELY RACE PEOPLE FOR TIME AND TRY AND WIN. FOR WHAT? STUPID POINTS??? YOUR SELFISH EGO??? HIT THE RESIGN BUTTON PEOPLE AND HAVE SOME RESPECT WHEN YOU ARE BEAT. THE PROGRAM SHOULD AUTO RESIGN PLAYERS WHO ARE ALL OUT OF PIECES AND THEIR OPPONENT HAS AT LEAST 2 ROOKS. EITHER WAY IM TIRED OF SEEING IDIOT PLAYERS RACING YOU FOR TIME BECAUSE THEY'RE BEAT. KNOCK IT OFF, KNOW YOU ARE BEAT, HIT RESIGN, HAVE SOME CLASS AND MOVE ON. DON'T LOOK ANY MORE STUPID THAN YOU PLAY.

The clock is part of the game.  Its up to you to get the win.

Putting this in all caps was a bad idea. This makes you seem like a fool. (not saying you are one) Why would the add an auto resign? That would completely screw up live chess. It's up to both players to play for a win If they want to. You can't be all sour because of this.

When you write in all caps, you forgot to put in the emoticoms.  evil.png   evil.png   evil.png

even without All caps, still this is a silly rant.

why play blitz?  I don't blame you for feeling frustrated when you have seconds per move.

but by picking a slower time control, you are able to put more thought and effort into you moves-- thats just better in lots of ways.

CERTAINLY WHEN THEY HAVE NO PIECES. IT IS SUCH A COWARDLY ACT WHEN YOU PURPOSELY RACE PEOPLE FOR TIME AND TRY AND WIN. The clock is part of the game.  It is your job to win the game.

FOR WHAT? STUPID POINTS??? YOUR SELFISH EGO??? Indeed, it does sound like your ego got bruised.

HIT THE RESIGN BUTTON PEOPLE AND HAVE SOME RESPECT WHEN YOU ARE BEAT. When to resign is up to your opponent, not you.  Speaking of respect, it doesnt look good that youre insulting your opponent and demanding they show some respect.

THE PROGRAM SHOULD AUTO RESIGN PLAYERS WHO ARE ALL OUT OF PIECES AND THEIR OPPONENT HAS AT LEAST 2 ROOKS. that isnt the way chess works.  Again...the clock is part of the game.  Its up to you, to know how to win a game when youre low on time

Agreed.  If you cant win a game when youre low on time, then resign, or accpet a draw as the logical outcome.

If you were playing 1-0 Bullet, please consider the following (my copy & paste from another OP post this morning, yet germane). If not, still kill the caps. You'll find more folks receptive. Also, ...great idea by AndyMadness to stick to playing with "increment" for a while. An additional second or two allows you the opportunity to practice & perfect your skills at "closing the deal" and winning the game. This will help tremendously in Tourney or even OTB (sans increment), time crunched games.

7 Bullet Chess Tips By Hikaru Nakamura

1. Never Resign.

Another way of putting it: have no shame. Unlike in normal chess, anything can happen, even if there’s a mate in two or one, of if you’re down a queen. Never resign.

2. Never Assume When Premoving.

Don't premove in a situation where if what you expect to happen doesn’t necessarily have to happen — and your move is still legal.

3. Don’t Focus On Time.

Keep the clock in your peripheral vision, but don’t focus on it unless the game is definitely headed for a time scramble.

4. Choose Your Thinking Time Wisely.

If you want to think for more than one second, do a quick check of time. If you have less than 30 seconds, NEVER think more than five seconds, unless it’s trying to find a clear mate.

5. Almost Any Opening Works.

As long as you can blitz out 10-15 moves, you can play any opening — which is specifically why theory is bad. In an open Sicilian (for example) you could get tricked on move 10 and also can't premove — you'd have to use precious extra seconds.

6. Simplify When Up Material Or Down On Time.

When you are up a lot of material — or down big on time — it’s important to eliminate your opponent's pieces to simplify the position. If you have two rooks vs bishop and knight, sacrifice one rook for the knight. Simplifying allows fewer chances for checks, counterplay, or complications.

7. Know When To Quit.

If you’re winning a lot of games on the board AND the clock, you know you’re on form. But if your wins are primarily on time in a lost position, then it might be time to quit and preserve your rating before the tide turns against you.

The subsequent thread is full of Naka praise ("cool", ..."nice", ..."fantastic", ..."thank you", ..."great", as if permission were granted happy.png! If it works for (perhaps) the greatest 1-0 internet Bullet player of all time (Never Resign), as well as generally accepted & adopted in 1-0 play by almost all GMs (watch these games) online, why quibble? The game of 1-0 Bullet Chess is a standout exception to the otherwise valid, yet contrarily centered concerns.

Folks are split, polarized on this issue. Diakonia makes very good points, even in games that aren't bullet. Otherwise, Tourney ejections and Rule Changes would have been made long ago. The player creating 5 or 6 Queens (to make a point, while avoiding Stalemate) would undoubtedly be spoken to by the Tournament Director, rather than the player playing on, should it come to that. Manage your time and checkmate your opponent. Then move on. Hope you enjoy your games more in the future!

Peace!
