Some people will do anything for the fame, wealth and women of an internet chess player.
High players... Gone!
I thought my percentile was much higher lately. I don't usually check it, but someone pointed it out to me. Only thing I can figure is a lot of players higher rated than me are gone now.
chess.com merged stats with Facebook users more than doubling the amount of users ,my stats went from Top10% to Top5 as well
They were closed for cheating? Isn't nosferatu a FM or something?
Nosferatu is FM Stefan Docx. He was banned some time ago from another site. I guess that, instead talking to his pieces, he started to talk to his computer :)
Being a titled player doesn't mean you can't cheat. Atlantischess (Dimitar Kacakovski) was another FM cheater.
toutou's account has not been closed. He hasn't been online for about 25 days, so they moved him off the list. His account is still open, and can be used if he chooses.
And now YelenaDembo. How do you even tell these geniusballs are cheating btw? (boggles the mind)...
Awesome! I think Dembo is the first GM banned for cheating here? Anyway, great accomplishment!
Whoa (Nikolai Yezhov has been summoned)...
New poll topic; which chess.com staff member will Erik bump off first...
Dunno, it's all pseudonyms in that racket. I suppose we should look for the one writing extensively on the Spanish Civil War, or wait for someone to flee to Mexico.

That doesn't account for it. Or not most of it as the number of players did not increase that much. A lot of those FB accounts are same players. It's just a way to artificially inflate members here, not players. As you can see from many posts here they are really cracking down now and even closing titled players. They never did this before. Must be a huge purge going on now.
I think some analysis work has been done lately, and the results were not too far off what was expected. Is there a problem with that, and what kind of prob.
And now YelenaDembo. How do you even tell these geniusballs are cheating btw? (boggles the mind)...
Wow. Yelena Dembo has a 2452 FIDE rating! She's a famous freaking player (The #40 Woman player in the world; i just looked it up) -- what on earth would possess a player of that caliber to cheat here?... and also it seems Chess.com must be quite confident in their detection methods to close the account of such a player.

Anyone who knows anything at all about engine match up analysis knows that any of the above results if verified = blatant engine use.

And now just to check on how engine-like WGM Dembo plays when unassisted, her otb stats from most recently completed chessgames.com vs 2200+ with 35+ total moves:
I'm permanently startled at what the evidence suggests is a limitless supply of chess cheaters. They just keep coming. Apparently, being fake-good at internet-chess is irrresitably appealing to a whole lot of people.
