How do you behave after a game?

That depends if its my teacher or anyone else.

Win against anyone else : hand shake, good game.

Win against teacher “only happened once” : did a 10 min victory dance “was drunk.. So was he”

Lose against anyone else : hand shake, good game.

Lose against teacher : often I refer to him as a ****ing jedi. “then he degrades me for 10 min or so… its free training.”

I try to learn something from the matches lost and the one that's won.  It's not earth shattering from a lost match and I do give trophies either way.  Always do your best but remember there's so many other things in life that are far more important than a chess match.

Thanks for this topic!

KingsEnemy!

P.S. Good Luck!

If I Win I Move On To The Next Game.
If I Lose I Get Freaky Lol.

Do you think the rest of us try to lose?

Point being that you're stating the obvious -- we ALL try not to lose... as does every human being who has ever played any game on this planet.

:-) ahh BorgQueen I know some games (especially in card games ? ) you do get points for losing !

Atos

I always try to lose, but sometimes I don't manage it.

OTB - Win, lose or draw I offer/ask to go over the game with my opponent.  There is a lot to learn by getting the other player's perspective and thoughts on a game just completed.  Best when those thoughts are still fresh.

On line - If there has been civil and/or interesting conversation during the game, I ask to have the player added to my "Friends" list so that I may more easily find him later for another game.

I always thank the other player for the game, regardless the result, venue, or time control.  This is a favorite pasttime/hobby of mine, and I am always grateful to have shared my interest with  my opponent.

This thread is meant to be a fun one, but telling too!

I often criticize myself for how I feel or react to my opponent after a loss.

I noticed that I almost never give trophies when I lose.  Just when I win.  lol.  I also find myself typing "ty" through clenched teeth and that's only if the opponent has bothered to say gg or something of the like.  Any info on their happiness is secretly unwelcome.

I've run into a few opponents who were higher rated and still made very gracious comments when they lost...I admire that.  It's not that I get hateful when I lose...I just don't like the moment or anything about it.  My tummy tightens and I feel negative.  And if it's games in a row...ugh.

How are you usually feeling after a game and do you express any of it to the opponent?  Any patterns in your behavior?

online: if i win i rant and rave to my girlfriend about how great i am. if i lose i rant and rave to my girlfriend about how horrible i am. in either case she doesn't listen nor care.

live: despite if i win or lose there is at least one chess piece being thrown through the air. in which direction depends on the outcome of the game. win = up in the air in celebration, lose = at my stupid opponent's face.

After a loss I call myself names and consider quitting chess forever (a stupid loss that is, you can always be happy with a well fought game). After a win I replay the game repeatedly and then go read or something.

If I lose my game, I don't cry. I just try to be relax. It is a good thing to do. It is better than being angry. If you became angry you can lose the other one. And the other. Because being angry has negative feelings. Like shouting and cursing to the opponent. But trying to be relax has positive feelings. and being funny. :) If you won your game, it is very easy to relax. But It is very important that how you behave after a game which you lost. Am I right? Comments are welcomed. :)

In future over the board games, after I win (inevitable, of course), I have decided to go to the end of the table and launch myself across the boards and pieces with all four limbs in a star pattern, aiming to slide as far as possible. It is possible I have been influenced by watching football.
