I know what you mean. I fell victim to the Fried Liver Attack a couple of weeks ago. I learned not to 3...Nf6 in the Giuoco Piano. You have to learn these things one humiliating lesson at a time.

Hatred is a fool's pursuit.  Example: "etc", properly used as "etc." is Latin for "and the rest".  So your title essentially reads "

1. e4 35

2. Bc4

After this move you should play 2. Nf6 so that you prevent the queen from going to h5 because after

2. Bc4 Nf6

3. Qh5 

You can capture with 3. Nxh5 preventing Scholar's Mate.

Don't look for ego boost, look for ego annihilation. Without anything in the way between you and mental clarity you play much better. You are not your ego, the ego is a little parasite poisoning our systems like a spoiled little pawn. Anyway I do have the same sentiment, except I love it when they play Bc4 Qf3 (or Qh5) because I can refute it and give them a little lesson. But I have it with the Bowdler Attack in the Sicilian. It's just a more complex and systemic version of scholar's mate, but the idea is similar. I mean, if you play positional, play positional and not something which is a single-minded little tactic behind some pseudo-positional shenanigans. I call it the Bowel attack since I've seen what it is - a structural bag of sand.

Scholars mate should be against the rules. I mean really!? Why do I keep falling for it?
