I Like Carlsen !

They both seem really sweet guys, hard to see how people could dislike either of them.

The fact that he got into a worse position in the first game after 10 moves as white shows that his opening knowledge is lacking. Anand however is good in all parts of the game

Maybe you should play next year Harryz, you must have more opening knowledge than Carlsen.

Lou-for-you

I agree. We are probably talking about different kind of openings, but who cares.

Ruby-Fischer

Yeah, maybe Harryz can open a packet of crisps better than Carlsen..

Thanks for the new posts.

For my own reference: Game 4 is a draw also ( move 64 ). Anand = W & Carlsen = B.

Honestly I don't know whether this should be a compliment or an insult.  The fact that he has the highest rating in the history of the game and he is not entirely booked up is simply amazing.

The rating nowadays is overrated by 200 points than in earlier times. If Carlsen was to play in the 1900s, his rating would be 2600, and that rating would be beaten by Fischer and other super GMs

--- Thanks for the new posts.

Carlsen wins Game 5 and he now is in the lead with a score of 3 - 2 ( Carlsen = W & Anand = B ). There are still 7 Games remaining to be played.

The big question now is can Carlsen beat Anand while Carsen is on the Black-Side of the Board ? ( 4 -2 would be a good lead for Carlsen ).

Perhaps we need to review a few things at this time:

A ) Carlsen learns to play Chess in Norway,

B ) Carlsen improves and improves over the years and becomes a young GM,

C ) Carlsen keeps improving and becomes a Super GM ( with the highest rating on Earth, inflated or not ),

D ) Carlsen beats out other Super GMs and then gets to play against the World Champ for the title,

Next ??? ( only time will tell ).

LOL !!!

Yes indeed ! We have had lots and lots of threads for Fischer VS: Morphy, Alekhine, Botvinnik, Spassky, Tal, Petrosian Karpov, Kasparov, Topolov, Anand, Kramnik, Etc Etc Etc, so why not Carlsen ? ( I must have missed a couple of names in my list there  lol ).

cabadenwurt

And now the score is 4 - 2 in favour of Carlsen as he has won Game 6.

konhidras

I like carlsen? seriously this is the title of this thread? Kinda like a puppy love thing though. At any rate i think Carlsen has done it. He will be the new champ.

--- Konhidras, so tell me are you rather envious of Carlsen perhaps ? ( or is your therapist on holidays by any chance ?  lol ).

With 2600 Carlsen wouldn't even have been in the top dozen on the first unofficial Elo rating list. That really must speak volumes about rating inflation if you can be #1 with a margin of 70 points today and still be weaker than the top dozen of 1969, chess players must have become much, much weaker the last decades :-)

LOL. And I'm sure Morphy is stronger than Carlsen and would trash him every game with queen sacrifices because if we believe in romantic and nostalgic myths hard enough it makes them true. Smile Oh I forgot to say that chess is a joke after Fischer because it's all about computers and memorization now.

That's absurd. Where are you picking this number ?
Chess players now may not be better than those of the 70's, but there are ceratainly not weaker. As the pool of chess players increase, the level at the top increases (because there are more chances some genius will appear).

At this point Carlsen is leading but he hasn't quite got the title in the bag yet ( Anand may still have something to say about that ). However if Carlsen does win this match and become World Champ at age 22, that would be quite something.
