Thanks for this post i needed a good laugh today. Waitzkin would not stand a chance against Fischer or Kasparov He is a long way from being the top American player and certainly nowhere near the strenght of a World class player.To say he would be the next American to win the title is a joke.

The next american to win the title would be Kamsky or Nakamura 
And I think that there are better american chess authors than Waitzkin:
* Boris Gulko
* Fred Reinfeld
* Reuben Fine
If some want to say that Waitzkin help many people because of his book and his work in chessmaster grandmaster edition, he would have to consider that the impact by Reinfeld alone is much bigger on chess players on the US and the entire World.
Waitzkin is not even at the top-1000 of the stongest US players ever. Fischer is in the top-5 of the world's strongest players ever in the lists of most GM's.
So- yeah, the match would be, ummm, interesting. Now excuse me, going out to smoke my doobie.

Gracie jiu-jitsu is the style he teaches at the NYC studio he runs with his partner. Or at least that's what I've read. Martial arts studios come and go though, so who knows.
I can beat Fischer as he always lets the time run out on his clock.
