Searching for Bobby Fischer is based off him.
Josh Waitzkin

I loved that movie. It's what motivated me to get better at chess to be truthful. What I like about Josh though, is he is multi-talented and a very nice guy. I've gotten to exachange e-mails with him on one occasion, and he is a very nice guy.

Yeah, Josh used to be my favourite after I saw that film.
I dont remember the name of the film, anyone know?
Moon...

"Searching For Bobby Fischer" is the name of the movie. I ended up buying it.
And no prob of the game. =)

I consider him my teacher in chess. I admire his deep understanding of the game. I wish he didn't give up on chess. He could have been a supergrandmaster by now.
The name of the film is now called 'Innocent moves' I believe after Bobby himself complained about the title not being endorsed by him.

Not sure about that. My theory is he saw his own limits and found a way to capitalize on his strengths. There are lots of people who were better than him at similar ages who didn't make it.... It's an interesting conjecture, because he still could, if he wanted....
The movie was based on a book of the same name, Searching for Bobby Fischer. The book talked a lot more about Waitzkin's experiences in Russia. If you like the movie, I suggest you'd enjoy the book also.

Josh is great! He has a very nice tutorial on Chessmaster. He was 11 when he drew against Kasparov in a simul. Also, he is two-time Tai Chi Chuan Pushhands Wordl Champion.

the idea you can have a world champion at tiachi is thick but he is good player i have chessmaster on ds lite
Hello all! I'd like to know if many of you have ever heard of Josh Waitzkin.
He faired pretty well against Kasparov in 1988, and I do believe he was pretty young at the time.
