It almost looks like there's a chess.com feature request here.

Step 1. Relatively new forum user (who has no incentive or prior information to actually search the forum for prior questions on the same topic)  posts a question and hits submit

Step 2. Question gets parsed for keywords and chess.com tries to pull up similar threads.

Step 3.  User is taken to a screen with links to top 10-20 matches to his forum question

Step 4. He is *encouraged* to read  those threads to see if his question was already answered....unless he feels his question is really unique ... and can press the "okay, I'm sure" button.

Just an idea ... feel free to shoot it down, but it would certainly decrease the clutter?

Update: Just realized ... what if somebody already posted the same feature request ... I better search Loomis's links before I jam my foot in my mouth :)
