when he loses it's going to be against somebody A LOT OF POINTS lower, for reasons too obvious to even hint at. honestly, do you really expect him to never lose?

I'm happy to see Vishy get another chance. I was shocked, but happy, that he won the candidates. I really didn't think he could win it but when he did I felt good about it. He's such a cool guy (from everything I've read, I've never met him). I think it's awesome he had the resolve & commitment to prove to the world that he ain't washed up. Having said all that I still think there's a huge diference in current ability & I think Magnus will win again but by a smaller margin.

Funny how you go nuts about one sub-par (only by Carlsen's standards) result, yet say nothing (let alone six times as much) about six times as many great performances he has had. The only way that can be done is through bias.

All it takes for Magnus to raise his rating is another characteristic performance. For him to occasionally lose a few points doesn't hurt this method very much.

At least a large chunk of his great career is relatively recent, actually.

MrDamonSmith

Yeah, the thing is, at 23 there isn't much else other than recent.

No rage, I'm just responding to your arguments. It's how people learn.

We have no way of knowing your age. This post was silly and rather trollish. If you want to act like a troll, expect a response.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say Carlsen's skills are intact. I believe his second place finish to Karjakin is a reflection of how difficult it is to finish first in any top-level chess tournament. I'm constantly impressed by the sorts of tactical and deep strategic ideas found by the masters here at chess.com. The funny thing is, Guys like Carlsen and Caruana are whole eons ahead of even them!

Therefore, I believe Carlsen's recent results are not a reflection of a decline in his skills. They are merely a result of winning tournament after tournament at the top level being really friggin hard!!

Yeah, so y'all take that! Not me of course, I'm just an innocent bystander. Just observing.....well.....maybe posting some. I'm like that guy in my picture, y'all should enlarge it so you can see it better. That's sort of my role on these threads, sit back, don't spill my drink, & enjoy the chaos.

Haha, I know, right? He's always obsessed over Magnus. Except with superking he doesn't stick to one side only, he keeps making threads arguing the exact opposite of his previous point! Example: one week he'll be going on & on about how Magnus isn't really that good, he just wins a lot of games other GM's would draw because he's lucky. Then his next thread about a week later will be about how we should have the utmost respect for Magnus because he's got be one of the greatest ever because just look how he can win games other GM's can't !! Hahahaha. He basically argues against his own previous points over & over. Not to mention his threads about how there are 2300 level players who are really as good as Kasparov & Carlsen. Geez.

MrDamonSmith

Apparently Vladimir, you've blocked Jimmykay & I guess he has something he wants to say on your thread but he's unable to. Just wanted to let you know on his behalf.
