Marijuana and chess

Is there any top chess player in history who smoke marijuana????

corum

I don't know but I find this highly unlikely.

There might have been a few titled players who experimented in their youth, but not the really top guys.  At least not anymore.  Who knows what went on during chess's Romantic Age?  OH, I bet Batgirl does.  Still Erik prefers we don't talk about drugs.  Just saying...

I see, research says that limited use of marijuana, like once a week reconstruct your brain cells, I never smoked pot so i don't know what happens actually

I refuse to consider cannabis a drug if we have no problem with junk food, sh** air, industrial cigarettes and so on ...

Heard tell Timman smoked. He was Dutch, however. Was legal over there for some time now.

      OK, I won't mention maryjane!Yell

there are no single case of death caused only by marijuana

I know why you started this thread. Today 4/20 is National Weed day. It was started by high school kids in Calif, who allways smoked on this day. A lot of states have legalized it. Don't you think its a coincidence that there's a rise in ISIS attacks since GANJA was made "legal"? heh?Frown  You bet!Yell  Its all you Calif hoodlums, and shananigans with all your tattoes and your "rad" language man, that's destroying this country. You otta be ashamed of yourself. WHO raised you? And another thingYell....Wait!......What we're we talking about?Undecided

It reconstructed my brain cells. Now they look like this:

I wouldn't be surprised if some GM's smoke ocassionally.  They are humans, after all.

However, I'm sure they don't do it before games or when doing serious analysis.

@The_Vision Props to you for the most logical reply, and the most likely.  Look at the bests of any sport and look at their vices.

I sapose if you had anxiety, high blood pressure, or panic attacks, it might help.Undecided

Not the best for high blood pressure.  My doctor told me an amusing story of a college kid who showed up for a routine physical and it was only after he was wheelchair transported to the nearby ER that he 'fessed up to blowing a joint just before his physical.  Don't remember what the numbers were, but they were high (no pun intended).

TheMagic-eulerBall

Maybe his high blood pressure had nothing to do with what he smoked

It would not surprise me at all. I hate to sound extreme, but I know A-grade medical students who smoke day in/out. I personally go through phases of my anxiety disorder in which smoking helps my focus and concentration. I will say this. Though I often play sober, cannabis has got me into chess and opened up a new hobby I otherwise would not have taken immediate interest in. The art form was fascinating to me when I started playing blazed a few weeks ago and is now still fascinating in a sober context. This is coming from a 4-year medical smoker though; it isn't likely a pro would be playing under recreational influence.
