I am playing a game against someone, and there is a completely drawn Bishop ending and he refuses to draw, despite repeated draw offers.

aabbccdd: why no draw?

aabbccdd: do u know how to accept a draw?

ZEMA: no

aabbccdd: u see in the top right corner draw? no draw or accept draw.

aabbccdd: does that help?

ZEMA: i want to win

aabbccdd: good luck. unless i seriously screw this, it is impossible. im not that bad tho.

aabbccdd: changed ur mind?

annoying. Just make a web of continuation moves.

u mean conditional moves? he is playing like Ke4-e4-d5-d6-d7-c6-d5 and stuff like Bh4 if i play Kf7, so i can't predict his moves, and hes moving fast.

Yeah, just wait it out. Be sure to look out for when the 'offer draw' button changes to 'claim draw'. Other than that, just play the moves. It isn't harming you in any way, is it?

Was there a rule saying 50 moves without any pieces taken is a draw? Read something about Nigel Short being taken by this in a winning position but his opponent kept running long enough.Laughing

Sounds like the kind of thing that could happen in some unfortunate knight+bishop situations where the number of moves to mate is 60-something with perfect play...

Harming, no. Boring, Yes.

Yes, but it is far off.

it takes at most 30 moves with perfect play in any position to mate with knight and bishop.

And that was terrible to blunder like that in such a drawn position! you still have to be careful

Had a look at the game. Earlier in the game the position was as drawish as the one you show on top. For some reason your opponent understood you would move eventually and there lay his chances...

Last time I saw a topic about a game where one guy thought he had a dead draw (it was less drawn than your game) was Dalmatinac going on about how his opponent disrespected, no way he could make an error, they would just go back and forward etc.  I followed the game since he had given a link.  He lost too, and then deleted the thread :-)  Frankly, not trying to start a row but you shouldn't have made those comments, its as bad as telling someone to resign.

I apologise. How about this position, mate in 73: (And the knight isn't captured until about move 58, so it would be declared a draw 23 moves before mate!)

Avatar of jrcolonial98

That's really dumb.

Any game with that position would be a draw. Even if you did blunder your bishop, that was a draw and ZEMA didn't want to have his/her rating lowered.

I notice you actually lost that game...

Due to a blunder on his part, he was right, his opponent was being stubborn! Smile Just a point though, it isn't nice (even if its not against site rules, though it should be) to name other players on the forums (or subsequently, post a link to a game where people CAN see their names).
