I'm not familiar with Greek law, but my guess is that it's perfectly fine to play chess in public. Of course, you should definitely double check with a credible source, just to make sure you don't get into any unecessary inconveniences.
They are asking about places that have chess players, not asking whether it is allowed. What do you think Greece is, Saudi Arabia? :D
