I don't even know if any of this is true or not, or even if it's been posted here before. It's slightly amusing and surely worth a read:

Unbelievable... A post with the word Fischer in it and no single reply in 20 hours.

What I have read in some occasion is that both were very good friends. Tal once was the only player to visit him during some illness or crisis that brought Fischer to the hospital. I try to find the story and put up a link.

I can confirm that the stories are true but I am not sure for some details. I have read them in books but for the fourth game in Canditates 1959 were Fischer wroted down on the Score sheet the best move and played another , I believe has nothing to do with Tals reaction when he sow the move. Fischer didn't influenced from his laugh or his behavior. He changed his mind because there was no variation that would gave him a winning position, only a draw from perpetual check and Bobby was not compromise with that.

After that game their realetionship changed in personal level were Tal started to respect him more, but on the board they still continued play testing their technique in complex positions.

ANOK1

i think tals fondness of fischer goes beyond the board they had some cracking games id recommend you view them Tal  won  more

Tal v Fischer candidates tournament zagreb 1959

fischer v Tal leipzeig olympiad 1960

and (not sure who was white ) tal v fischer bled 1961
