In May, Wei is taking part in Chinese Chess Championship. It is worth mentioning that Wei needs to earn 7 Elo points to have a chance to qualify for Candidates Tournament for World Chess Championship 2016. According to the Candidates regulation, one spot is reserved for the Organizer's Nominee – the player that must be rated at least 2725 on 1 July 2015.

Now he needs 5 elo points.

Wei won the Chinese Chess Championship 2015.

he lost after a while. he loses in last round of Chinese Championship, against Lu Shanglei (2606)with black pieces.

The chinese players beat everyone else, he beats them while still 15 years old. He turns 16 next week.

He'll be 2800 in no time.

Happy birthday wei yi, now 16. Just needs 4 points to 2725 in the month of June.

He's feasting on low level chinese players and could make it to 2750 by the end of the year.

He's on the rise again. Now he's ranked 17th at 2739 rating. 2 wins and a tie so far in world cup torny.

Good thing you're dumb.  Why are you even on a topic that doesn't have Vishy in the title? 

IMO it is not if he will get to 2800 but if he will get to 2900. 2800 is almost a given, just how long it will take him that is the question.
