Miss fatima!!. Great story - do you have a picture of her batgirl? Know there is at least one about somewhere, but can't recall where!!! May be on britbase.

That's what came to my mind immediately, too! (Except for the "perhaps a little too punk rock for our American cousins ears" part)  grin.png

If you add "sex" and my first name, you get a similar sounding word grin.png "Sexspyros"  xD

Homer rocks!

here is a game from 2001 in which she was probably winning on more than one occasion but eventually lost sad.png

So does Sancho Panza!

I've read almost everything by Cervantes and also the Ilíada (or whatever it is called in English) and the Odissey by Homer, but nothing by Shakespeare yet.  :"(

Pulp, the Iliad is one of my favorite books, along with the Odyssey and Virgil's Aeneid.   I'm embarrassed to admit I've never read Cervantes, but I did see a production of "Man of La Mancha" (probably a poor second but enjoyable nonetheless).

Pulpofeira

I've heard of it. A sucint phrase like "the impossible dream" catches as far as possible the essence of the novel IMHO.

And no wonder its torture to read.  I was gifted 'The complete works of Shakespeare' by a lady in college and attempted many times to read the tome, alas to no avail.  Every school kid in the UK must do some Shakespeare in English class and they hate it with a vengeance.

RoobieRoo

This is why I love batgirl threads, you can go off on a tangent and she don't mind. Its like a kind of organic collage.  Here is another of Jennies games, this time in the under 12 girls section section of the World (cadets) You gotta love her style.

Eric Schiller claims to have been her coach, any truth to this?

Brendan_UK

Golden Brown was one of my faves.

With that mystery solved (apart from 'did Eric Schiller coach her, which I don't doubt, anyone know more?, "she was one of the top young stars from the West Coast and was featured in my book "Whiz Kids Teach Chess". She played at the World Youth Championships when I was coaching the team").

Here's a link from @billwall that you might find interesting: https://www.chess.com/article/view/women-and-girls-in-chess

It seems not, at least in the sense of a personal coach.

Here, in 2006 Schiller wrote: "Jennie doesn't play much anymore, but she was one of the top young stars from the West Coast and was featured in my book 'Whiz Kids Teach Chess'. She played at the World Youth Championships when I was coaching the team."

Which I interpret as being his association with JF was limited to that one event.

What does "whiz" stand for?
