Who do you think is the best chess player in the 20th century.  I think Emanual Lasker 

Most will say Kasparov. Personally, I think it's Fischer

I did some calculations (like Chessmetrics) where I calculated the peak of elo's best players like it was This year. For example in 1972, 2785 elo's Fisher now could be 2901.

Elo ratings did not exist for most of the 20th century. I am not aware of any generally accepted method for assigning 2018 ratings to non-2018 players.
