why are women worse at chess than men?

I think it's because most of them are smarter than we are and realize chess is not the most productive use of their time.

There are several factors to consider about this topic, for example just the amount of female to male ratio playing this game would give an indication that there would be more top male players than female. Judit polgar is a favorite of mine to discuss when talking about this. It isn't that women are incapable of being top chess players.

This question has been asked countless times. I will quote the most common reasons ( I do not claim that they are correct ):

1. Different brains.
2. Men tend to sacrifice their life more to play chess.
3. Assume male and female are equally good in chess. Due the fact that there are fewer female GMs than male GMs, it is statistically more likely that male GMs are at the top.

Polgar is the only real female super-GM. It's odd, but maybe a fair representation given the number of females that actually play chess.

I think historically, chess hasn't been something that women have been encouraged to pursue. I look forward to this changing somewhat in the near future, although I still don't see female numbers getting anywhere near male numbers any time soon.

or man could just be better in chess generally, but i guess its not political correct. So we say yeah not so many woman play chess and all that.

I actually know a lot of females that are really strong chess players (at least Class A or Expert or Master level, or higher.) They aren't worse at chess than males, there's just a lot fewer of them playing.

Go on then. What's your rationale for why "women will never be good in chess" ?

just look at china,i believe they dont care if man or woman(i have no proof ofc), they want fame for china and still the chinese man are way stronger even though all get chess schooling if they are promising.

I'm not really sure where people think the historical/present evidence of women being bad at chess is. As far as I know, there is no record of large numbers of women trying to learn chess and failing, nor any experiment which has concluded that men are able to pick up chess faster than women.
