An interesting variation that randomizes chess

I want to share a variation that I came up with. It's best used against acquaintances who have a very different level of profiency in chess as you. First you'll need to cut the board in four parts in your mind. Here are the more natural choices for that:

You'll want to assign every part of the cut board with a number and then use a random number generator to get an arbitrary number from one to four at the start of every turn. You're only allowed to move a piece that stands on the correspondent region of the board. You can move it to any square you want, however. If you didn't have any legal moves with a piece on the part of the board you got, draw a new number.

The game ends when the other player's king is captured. There's no concept of check. That makes exiting comebacks possible since the other player can win with luck even if they have very little pieces remaining if they can just attack the opponent's king.

What do you think about this variation?
