Blindfold Chess Variant?

How about a variant that takes away the board? Either leave the moves, or have them read out by a machine? I am told that blindfold chess would be great practice, but right now I am having to visualise miniatures to get the habit.

Sounds unfair to mobile users, but it will be easy to cheat by placing a board next to you. Also how would you know ur opponents move? If it shows a list that defeats the purpose
