Is there any way to get a chess 960 game with more time for the first move?
Chess960's random opening positions cause the opening move to require (much?) more thought than a non-variant game as white. I don't think it's unreasonable to take 1 minute for the first move (figuring out which pawns are undefended, which side is more promising to castle, how to get bishops onto the long diagonals, which files to try to open and which to keep closed, etc.), but in my most recent 10 | 15 time control game I was surprised to be given a message that "White did not move in time. Game Aborted" just 40 seconds after my clock started. I may have just missed it, but I didn't notice any warning in the UI that I was running close to the "Forfeit" time.
It was a pretty frustrating experience as a new (returning after long break) player on chess.com, and I'd like to know the best way to avoid repeating it.
It used to be 20 seconds.
