Fair enough. I only said that to give you an idea of my thought process in the opening, rather than to criticise.

Yes, this should be called the "Tugwash Opening", or the "Captain's Opening".happy.png

Yes, this should be called the "Tugwash Opening", or the "Captain's Opening".

I believe this opening was originally pioneered by Naviary, and he named it “the naviary attack.”

tehanu

But it was on move 1 then

captaintugwash

I usually play it move 4 before my hawk blocks the queen's path. My next move is highly predictable!

tehanu

Ah

nav played it move 1

Did you have an internal alarm go off when I made my move just to come online to play that super fast?

H (-1, -3)

lol something like that. I fell asleep and missed dinner, so woke up hungry. Had a snack a cuppa and saw you had moved.

Anyway I'll WFB here, this is the point where I need to actually make a board haha.

Marks, no hawk can move there. Can you double check your coordinates? (I never make assumptions when I see a typo).

vickalan

This is where we are (White to move):
5.Q(4,-7)...H(4,9)

vickalan

Btw, if either of you would like a zoom-in view let me know. I can crop out distant pieces, adding only a note what square(s) they're on. (That's what I normally do when pieces move really far).

captaintugwash

That board is fine for me thanks.

Marks1420

Sorry, I mean (1,-3).

Still getting used to this.

captaintugwash

Yeah don't worry, if you make a "legal" typo that turns out to be a blunder I'll let you retake your move! So long as it's clear what your intention was, anyway.
