Chess variant concept: Sanctury chess

So, I've formulated a chess variant with a Very simple rule:

The central 4 and Sorrounding 12 squares are "Sanctury" Squares, any piece on a Sanctury may not be captured.

No king may go into the Sanctuary.

There's also a version II:

The area is limited to only the four central squares.

So, Which is better and how do you do think this will affect the game? Maybe after this we could start a correspondence match to playtest.

Can’t be captured is pretty powerful, so I would limit it to the central 4

Thanks for the feedback!

I will agree, The latter version does seem more appealing.
