Chess variant idea: Trench Warfare

Hi, just wanted to share a chess variant idea I’ve been working on — I call it Trench Warfare.

In this version, every piece only moves one square. So there are:

No knights (and their columns and two rows are gone).
Rooks are replaced by Wazirs (1-square straight moves).
Bishops are replaced by Ferzes (1-square diagonals).
Queen and King are both just Kings now — but only one is royal.

Pawns do not move 2 squares. No castling. No en passant. Promotion to Wazir, Ferz or King. Everything else is just regular chess.

The board is smaller, and the game is all about close, slow, positional fighting — like trench warfare. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, but still…
