Chess Variant Idea - Undercover Chess

First ever post!
My idea goes like this, at the start of the game each player picks one of their pieces to be an undercover "king". Neither player knows which piece their opponent picked.
The game then progresses as it normally would under standard rules of chess but with the additional rule that you lose if your undercover "king" is captured.
My thinking is that players will need to be more creative about how they protect their undercover king while still protecting the standard king.
I'm a beginner chess player though, I dont know if this idea would work or even be interesting to others.
