Note that Gothic Chess isn't the same as Capablanca Chess. There are some subtle but important differences. See here for more information.

Here's the official website.

I like Gothic Chess very much. Would be cool to play this here. Years ago the server on the Gothic Chess page rarely worked.

Years ago on the gothicchesslive page I played. I don´t know about the possibility to play it currently live. Is there a new site?

Haha, well, naming has always been an issue, I guess! Gothic Chess has been renamed "Trice's Chess". Personally I would have dropped the possessive, but there ya go. Here's the site.
Unfortunately, I doubt that chess.com will ever pick it up. Ed was playing here for a while but somehow got crossways with chess.com (I don't know the details) and his account was closed. Oh, well.

Dave do you play on Green Chess?
Haha, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that. I'm bad enough here, hahaha!

It's Green Chess dot net and that is where Ed plays his variant. It sounds like you know him so I was just wondering if you played on there. It's turn-based and not with timers like here.

Just rearranging the piece initial placement doesn't make it outstanding.
We must aknowledge that teh inventor tried his best to make it commercial and successful which is the biggest acheivement for this variant. But by itself it's just an old refurbished game.
I looked up the main site for this variant (I primarily play Janus Chess so I might get some Gothic stuff wrong. Please educate me if so). The website is pretty clear that Gothic wasn't derived from Capablanca's chess. It came after it. Capablanca also came after Bird. Nobody says Capa derived it from him. In fact Gothic says it's more like Bird than Capa. From what I can tell, this seems right.

The paper describing it (here) is very interesting, particularly how Gothic (ne, Trice's) Chess addresses some of the weaknesses of the earlier 8x10 variants. The draw rate is supposed to be significantly reduced, which can't help but be a good thing in this era of draw-happy GM's, haha!
I don't know Ed personally, just through some in-forum interactions here. Seems like a good guy with a cool idea that maybe got shafted a few times too many. I can't comment on Ryan's experience but sometimes really smart guys operate with limited patience.
And as far as Zied's observation that it isn't "outstanding", well, it's not. Just a bit better.

I hadn't seen that paper. Way too much math for me. There was another paper. Somewhere on the site. It had full games of Capablanca Chess and the weaknesses stemming from the setup were exploited brutally. But now I can't find the PDF. Do you know which one I mean? I hate when I find something online and don't bookmark it!

Hahaha, yeah, the math potion isn't where I spent most of my patzer time. The first part describing history and rationale I can actually read, though. ;-)

Ummmm, what? I'm just looking for Janus players. Gothic seemed like the nearest variant neighborhood. I've gotten no takers for Janus all this time. I was also asking about how to make Janus diagrams. That's when I found some cool stuff Grandpatzer Dave posted. One of his links showed the game as a movie
Did you want this + the varient (gothic) ?https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capablanca_Chess#Variants_postdating_Capablanca_Chess
