This premove doesn't seem bad, it's quite a fair tradeoff but I want to play this instead.

If, in a fight, somebody attempts a leg sweep, and you avoid this by jumping over their leg, you can't dodge if they actually intended to follow up with a spinning punch. Therefore, no matter what they intend, jumping was incorrect. The same principle applies here. You lack balance.
