Event #17: Hakkeyoi!
...please standby
Luck of the draw. This event looks especially brutal for you. Although knowing what all the events are, you still have a chance. At least 6 of them would make it at least close, including at least 2 that are liable to give you a win.
"A Lion cannot capture an enemy Lion within the ring, or an adjacent Lion outside the Ring."
What exactly does this mean? My Lion can't take your Lion when my Lion is in the Ring? Or my Lion can't take your Lion when your Lion is in the Ring?
"If a player has no Lion, he may instantly promote his Kirin to Lion at expense of two pieces at will (not a pawn or GB)." --> is this only applicable when I don't have a Lion when this event starts? Or also when I loose my Lion later?
A lion cannot capture [an enemy lion within the ring]. A lion (either inside or outside the ring) cannot capture [an adjacent lion outside the ring].
This event cannot be chosen if either player does not have both a lion and a kirin. Instant promotion of a kirin is possible, if, after the event starts, a player loses their lion. The player selects 2 pieces to remove, flips over the kirin, then plays a move.
Ln - 6f
I don't have much choice, My Lion was outside the ring when this event, with a sort of obligation to get the Lion in the Ring, started.
The strength of event breakdown is roughly as follows: 20% weak, 60% medium, 15% volatile, 5% super volatile. Event 17 was designed as a super volatile event to match the pace of sumo bouts, which last a matter of seconds. Whenever you wish to start an event, you can just give a number between 1 and 91.
As punishment for leaving the ring, I remove your Rook on 6h.
Subsequently, I now take your Lion with DK 8c x 7c
It looks like there could be tactics here, but that's really not how I like to win. Nonetheless, there is some opportunity in this position yet, and I definitely do not want that to disappear. Perhaps it is a bit early, and I am not under much positional pressure at all, but a little gamble could see hefty rewards if it pans out. Therefore...
