Not sure what move exactly you propose: umping 2 squares horizontally or vertically (the piece usually referred to as Dababba or War Machine) is certainly not a combination of a Knight with anything. The piece that can jump to all 16 squares two King steps away is known as a Squirrel.

The idea is quite simple but makes it "a little" more complex
The new chess piece i would call the "Lancer" - it can jump into and over the action, but only 2 squares horizontally or vertically; so you could say it's a combined knight and rook
This variant would obviously be played on a 10x10 board, the only thing i don't know by now and would've to be playtested is where the piece is going to be located. I would argue next to the queens and kings on d1/g1 and d10/g10 respectively
the queen and king would be relocated to the e and f files
I would love to hear your thoughts
take care
