Martin vs The world Analysis thread

Eh, I don't like Bb4+. White either develops the knight to d2 or c3, or the bishop to d2.
And then we either lose a tempo trading our bishop away and possibly doubling white's pawns, or we just straight trade it if he moves his bishop.

c5

It may be theory but I still don't like it. The budapest is also theory. But I also don't see a better move, c5 will just cause d5, so Bb4 is probably the best bet.

I vote Bb4
thegreatauk

I vote c5 or start event.

I vote start event

McGoohan

We should make a decision. I also tend for start event!

felnix

I vote Nc6, developing the knight.

Intuitively I would be for Ne4. But Martin is waiting for our move. So d5 has a majority and should be played now.

Recommend exd5.

You…

  1. capture back
  2. attack the center
  3. and open the e file for your King. (which is your event-Queen)
  • Play conservatively, but from a perspective of strength.
  • Be thinking about getting your Bishops out a little, since they have such limited range on the back rank.
  • Get your Queen to safety, soon.

Good luck.

ry,

I set up a board (physical board) just to play around with things, get a better understanding of this current game.

Here's what I found.

Martin probably will castle long.  The 1st event hurt him for "cover" over on his left.

Also, the Drunken Bishops are extremely powerful at close range, and it appears that if fianchettoed within a castled position, they may be awesome.  They can defend within one space, like normal bishops, and they can also bend around that raised fianchettoed-pawn like magic!

So, in later moves I'm recommending we go for a fianchetto to castle.

10 to 1, Martin does his castle position long and fianchettoed. (too)

Do we still play exd5? I think so

I'm thinking, yes, but there's no rush.  This game may go on for months. wink.png

I recommend Bd7-a4+

gy,

Then he simply moves the pawn up, and the bishop will end up at either b5 or a6.

b5 is a sort of no man's land, and a6 is a horrible place to be… on the edge, with a minor — at best — defensive role.

Furthermore, then his original c pawn would go on to take our other center pawn, and in just a few moves he's eliminated our center.  That pawn of his would be thought a hero by the other pieces playing on the board.

P.S. Looked at my passports (both expired) the other day, and counted 21 "green circle" Singapore stampings.  I understand your airport there now has a beautiful new attraction, the Jewel of Singapore.

no then Ne4 and he can't take the bishop or he gets checkmated

Well, for starters in our analysis of Ba4+, it would not be check. (they move drunkenly)

Bb5+ would place the King in check.  That might be interesting.  Let me take a longer look at your ideas.

Best,

Bob

let's do another start event in which we play checkers instead of chess
