Martin vs The world Analysis thread

Sorry I've been AWOL guys

That's ok.

You know, I'm still trying to figure out where this game went so wrong for us.

It's seems like it's been a never ending struggle of being bottled up in our right corner.

Maybe our difficulties had to do with when the Events took place.  That sort of "blind luck", or maybe the rapidity of being able to adapt to the Events, appreciate them, had the most to do with who wins or loses.

I may do a deep analysis to see if we would have fared any different had we castled long.

I think I did an analysis for if we had played O-O-O, and the only thing I saw was a Draw, at best.

So our difficulties really went much further back.

Martin seems to have a deep understanding of positional play.  Intrusion and obstruction, the important squares in this regard.

Wish I had a better feel for openings, how to have the power early on.

Ry, let me look at one more thing.  It is a our Bishop sac to get his Queen off the board.

Something he would not have looked at, at all.  Ba4 is the move.

I'll reply in half an hour.

It doesn't matter which move we play… each has its flaws. I've already seen Wins for Martin on all accounts.

Qb6's flaws are glaring… they stand out immediately.  They're the easiest to understand for Martin.  For us, once our position becomes hopeless very quickly, then we can Resign sooner rather than later.

Qc5 is the subtlest, and has the difficult to fathom Martin's Rook takes Our Bishop as Rxa6 after he places his Rook on d6.  It's our best "flawed strategy".

In closing, we could deny Martin the satisfaction of seeing any further advantage, by not moving whatsoever, let him give us a time warning, and then let the time warning expire.

We don't even reply! (that would be funny)

When he asks, "What's up with the World?"

You, Ry, reply simply, "The World is efffed up these days."

Just my vote…Qc5.

I'm not a majority.

I'm still voting Qb6. Seems like best opportunity for Martin to blunder

Ry!  This might be really good!

Let me look it over.  Can't believe I never saw it.

Avatar of USAuPzlBxBob

Ok, I'll change my vote to Qb6 since there are twists and turns that may go who knows where.

Who knows, maybe we'll end up in the "straightjacket".

Then it could be said, deservingly, "We were fit to be tied."

Let me put it up, then we can take a look at it.  He's left his options open in many ways.

Current Position (Black to Move)

Yes, Bd7, and in this way he can't be sure just yet which way our King will go.

Let's study it for at least a half hour, before we commit.

We should analyze quickly because he may have a lot of ideas in mind, and we don't want him to overthink it, come up with the perfect idea.  We just want a gut reaction from him.

I vote Kc7.

Edit:  Erased a different vote.

Avatar of USAuPzlBxBob

Wait, Ry, we lose the DB if we play Bd7.

QxQ+, PxQ, Bxb7 and our DB is pinned by White's Rook.

It's a really bad move.

Avatar of USAuPzlBxBob

It's Ke8 or Kc7 or Kc8.

I don't really care for Ke8.

I'm hoping we can play Kc7.

Looking at it right now for its flaw.

Avatar of USAuPzlBxBob

I vote Kc7.

Martin just may happen to have screwed up his order, and didn't think it mattered.

Maybe Kc7 should protect the pawn b7

McGoohan,

What local time is it in Switzerland right now; would Martin be up, still?

Not just protect b7, but allow access to d8 of our Rooks.

Midnight In Switzerland now. Sweden is in the same time zone as Switzerland.

Then even if we play Kc7 right now, he'll wait until Sunday Morning, cup of coffee, before replying to our next move.

Which means we should take our time.  Ry, we should wait to move.

Leave Martin six first-moves of ours — that are all possibilities — for him to wonder about, confuse his logic, when he next sits down at the board.

Move order is so important in this whole Drunken Bishops game.  You do it a little out of sequence and an "inaccuracy" occurs.  Right now, I'm not seeing the sharp attacks I saw just a few hours ago.

They've melted away.

I'll figure it out tomorrow.  But look at this neat little sequence, hidden soooo deep.

There are other possibilities, but just wanted to show that White Queen trap.  The Queen actually would exchange because White would play c5, attacking our Queen.
