New chess variant

I invented a chess variant a few days ago, I don't have a name for it yet but I want to know any suggestions / feedback

Summary: Every piece has a certain amount of moves becomes a wall block. The wall pieces cannot be moved or captured, and can not be jumped over by pieces, except by the knight. Kings can move an unlimited amount of times and upon capturing, the capturing piece gets the amount of moves a piece had left plus the amount of points it is worth. For example, if a bishop with 5 moves left captures a queen with 2 moves left, the bishop will now have 4 + 2 + 9 (15) moves left.

Winning: to win, you can either stalemate the opponent or checkmate them.

Great variant! But maybe your pieces can jump over your own wall block...

@matbellanas35 Good idea,I think it should be like that in the variant, do you have any ideas on what it could be called?

matbellanas36

Maybe Moves&Wallblock

I wish there was a way I could actually try playing the variant to know if it is actually fun or not

Ask in the 'make a suggestion'  section of 'Help'...

I love the idea. Some suggestions: Petrification Chess, Fossil Chess.

The downside of your variant is that it can only be played online, since OTB it will be much too hard to keep track of all the pieces' remaining moves. But it will be a wonderful addition.

You could also add some novelties, like providing a check gives the checking piece a free extra move.

Five initial moves seems a good number. That also makes that only pawns that move 2 squares on the first move can ever promote, unless they capture something on their way - it makes the game more intense and dynamic since players now have to look more actively for captures with pawns.

The game will also prevent players from playing too many times with the same piece, as so often happens.

I agree with your suggestion with the check and the initial number of moves, and the name suggestion are also nice!

Too Complicated. Also stalemate is a draw is an inspired invention, never change it.

I have a simpler variant. White moves, then Bl get two moves, then Wh 2 moves and so it continues. Eliminates the advantage of first move, almost.
