New Chess Variant – Medieval Chess: The Heir and the Consort!

Hello, chess enthusiasts!

I’ve been working on a new chess variant inspired by medieval times, and I’d love to hear your thoughts! This variant introduces two new pieces, bringing fresh dynamics to the game while preserving the essence of classical chess.

🛡️ Key Features:
♟️ New piece mechanics that enhance strategic possibilities
♟️ A special rule for introducing the new pieces into play
♟️ A different promotion system, adding another layer of depth

The goal was to create something balanced, engaging, and fun, where players can explore new tactical and positional ideas without deviating too much from classical chess.

I’ve put together a video demonstration and detailed rules, and I’d love to get feedback from the community!

Irritating. I had witten a long comment on this variant, and chess.com censored it away because apparently the name of one of the pieces you use is blacklisted here.

But the general verdict was: bad idea, because you give the defender a large advantage compared to the attacker, which will make the game far more drawish.

Thx for your reply. I am thinking in automatic promotion in the move 22, if the pieces have not been promoted previously. What you think?

It does not address the gravest problem, namely drawishness due to huge defender advantage.
