New piece challenge

Sort:
pds314

Fortress:

Makes two Wazir moves in any direction and can capture on both moves. As a result it is colorbound even though it can take on opposite color squares (and even take defended pieces with near impunity). Note that a cultist can easily capture a fortress on an empty board if they are the same color.

Apparently I blundered mate in one against myself...

Palisade:

moves as a Wazir. Can be captured en passant by any piece after it moves, but cannot be captured normally. It is invulnerable when not moving.

A weaker alternative to the royal couple. I will call them the lord and lady.

Both are royal.

The lord moves peacefully as a Wazir and captures as a bishop, and castles orthogonally at least 2 squares.

The lady moves peacefully as a Ferz and captures as a rook, but castles diagonally at least 2 squares.

Both pieces may castle with any friendly piece and at any time (regardless of castling rights) so long as they do not move through check. That piece must make its normal move to the square right before the one where the royal piece moves.

The royal pieces can also use their castling move when being castled with, though in this case, neither may move through, into, or out of check.

Both royal pieces can check squares they couldn't actually capture on because it would put them in check. This means it is possible for a royal piece to checkmate by pinning the opponent's opposite gender royal to their same gender royal.

The peasant: strong defensive piece. Moves as a wazir, but may make up to two Ferz moves through other friendly pieces first.

The cobra and beast, some basic compound leapers.

A board with some of these pieces.

Quick note on the pawns. They promote on the home row of the enemy's pawns. They can capture and be captured by en passant on two square advances. They can two square advance from their home row, but can't capture on a two square advance. The guardian pawns are square and move and capture orthogonall forward or sideways, and the berserker pawns move and capture diagonally.

The wasp, opposite the bee, moves exactly as the bee but 90 degrees rotated, and is thus also bound to 1/4 of the board. Knights and rooks move as in chess.
