old Persian chess games

I heard somewhere that in ancient times there were Persian chess. They were 11 x 11 (probably) cages and there was also one additional but destructive cage (probably called the citadel). So, if you find an article, you can drop the link (I am writing from a translator, so there may be errors)

I have an older book of Chess Variants. It mentions Shatranj Al-Husun (Citadel Chess) as a variant with a 10x10 board and citadel squares outside the corner squares (but the book mentions there was some differences in various sources on where they were located). But there's nothing in there about those squares being "destructive" just that if the Shah/King makes to one of those squares (on the oppoenent's side) then the game is drawn.

Maybe that will be helpful in your search.
