Quitting games of variants

I love playing games of variants of chess (or whatever it is calld in english, I'm french). But there is an important problem : I am frequently getting banned for quitting or aborting chess games. You may think it is fair, and is good for the fun of all the other players, but the thing is that I exclusively do that when I get a match against high elo players, way higher than mine, often 300 more and plus.

I don't bother them in any way when I abort a game, they only lose a second or so. And I do that because, very simply put, my definition of fun isn't getting steamrolled by someone who played that variant 5 times more than me. 

So there is my question : is it fair to get punished for refusing to play against someone who will obviously win, without the shadow of a doubt ? I mean, I am 1600 in fog of war (I think) and I can get paired with someone who has has 2000 elos. What am I supposed to do ?
