Random Flower things??

These random flower things that are sometimes on the King and then when the King is moved they are not....

What is the point of them? Why do Chess.com change supposedly random things without announcing anything?

Also I think its specific to the games that are played by them, as when I checked its still there, and its a different game

I know those symbols are called Fleur-de-lis and it's related to Quebec cuz we learned about it in history class before, but I'm not completely sure why it's on our boards. They were never there, so it could be a bug or an update; if it's a new addition, then it could be what Arnav said: to indicate which way is up, according to red's perspective. But we really should find out why it's there . . .

I think they only serve for the Courier Chess variant where the King and the Man are identical and need to be differentiated in some way. So they decided to apply those ''banana stickers'' on the Kings < in all variants >. Unfortunately the stickers don't follow the Kings and move freely through the board !!

Yes, please remove this. I think the fleur de lis symbol was added to help distinguish the kings in games like courier chess, but for whatever strange reason, they added it to all the variants. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

The idea, from what I gather (because there's nothing on the site that says anything about it), is to mark which piece the king is. But is there really anybody that's not going to know which piece the king is in this situation?

On top of that, the icon is totally broken. It's meant to appear on the king but it doesn't move around properly, so you will always get into a situation like oatey's screenshot where the symbols are in all sorts of crazy places for no reason. I found out that your browser's zoom level can affect it too. You can pick up any of your pieces and the icon on an opponent's piece will move around relative to your mouse. It makes me wonder who thought this was a good idea, and if anybody even playtested it.

I've tried submitting bug reports, posting on the forums, and posting on their discord support channel, but I haven't seen anybody get a response so far. Hopefully they see this and remove the symbol, or keep it just for Courier Chess if those players want it. But I'm guessing nobody asked for it.

Like,why make that symbol when you have something already telling you where the real king is?(the light colour around the king)

Let's stay on topic. This topic is about the broken courier symbols that appear in all variants when they shouldn't. They should be removed since they're useless even if they worked properly. Or at least have the option to turn them off.

Now it has been fixed and only applies to Courier Chess.

That's actually a great change. I always hated that little circle thing around the king because I could barely see it. The symbol is a much better replacement, in my opinion. Assuming it works as it should, this is an A+ update.

It hasn't been removed - just played a game of Chaturaji and its still there and still annoying as hell

Personally I don't see it anymore, maybe the change is not effective in your end yet.

Try hitting Ctrl+F5 several times, this would make a complete browser refresh.
