Any ideas to help make this variant better would be appreciated. Maybe pieces can be captured without any exceptions. Or better yet pieces can be captured and returned when all pieces are placed on the board and not just when there is a stalemate threat. Ideas with pawn promotions??

Okay I think I came up with an amazing idea for stalemate chess! Here are the rules. Objective is to put your king in an unmovable position and must be stopped by your opponent on the next turn or you win.Game starts with no pieces on the board. Players move by putting one piece wherever on the board just like crazyhouse. However pieces cannot be captured unless the king is dropped or moved in a position to where it can’t move. On your turn, you can either choose to place a piece on the board or move the pieces you’ve already put on the board but again pieces can’t be captured unless your opponent puts his king in an unmovable position.Pieces that are captured get returned to you to be used again rather then be completely gone when captured. If a king’s stalemate threat is thwarted by your opponent the king simply returns to you to be used on your next turn. The king can be put on the board and stay on the board to be moved whenever unless you threaten stalemate and the threat is thwarted, then the king must return to you to be put on the board on another turn. But here’s the kicker players start with the opposite colored king! I also think a draw in this variant can be something like if your opponent puts his king in an unmovable square and on your next turn you put your king on an unmovable square and the threat can’t be stopped this would be a draw. Thoughts? I think this would be an amazing draft for a type of stalemate chess.I know it’s not exactly a stalemate when pieces are able to move but the game would probably be beneficial for finding stalemate tactics in normal chess.
