Pawns can optionally promote to a tank on the 5th rank starting with 1 action point.
The tank moves like a king or captures any piece in a 5x5 area without moving (firing).
The tank requires action points to do things. If it has no action points of its own, it can't move.
Tanks can capture en passant, meaning that if a tank was behind a pawn when that pawn made its double-step move, it can still shoot it down.
You obtain action points by capturing any of your opponents' pieces and depositing them into any one of your tanks. For every 5 value of the piece captured you can deposit an extra action point, and it doesn't have to be deposited into one tank.
On your turn you may either move one of your any other chess piece, move one of your tanks any amount of times for their action points, fire one of your tanks any amount of times for their action points, or transfer 1 action point from one tank to another. After moving a tank with 1 or more of their action points remaining, you may pass your turn and not use the remaining points.
If the opponent ends their turn with the opponent's king in range of their tank, the opponent's king is considered in check and must stop the threat. However, if they do so with no points remaining in their tank, they are not in check.
If a tank is 2 spaces away from the edge of the board and there are no enemy pieces obstructing its movement, it can only fire in a 3x3 area.
The first player to checkmate or shoot their opponent's king wins.
