I played this variant as a kid and against a rather good Dutch player twenty years ago. The original 'tunnel chess' variant loops the board, so the 'a' file is adjacent to the 'h' file. Basically the board is a tube. The only boundaries are the 1st and 8th rank. There are no knights on dim rims and pieces can leave the kingside - reappearing on the queenside. This is one of my favourite chess variants, but I haven't seen it online. It's as old as the hills, so I'm wondering if it exists on chess.com. Perhaps it has been solved and thrown out with the trash. Anyone ever heard of it?
Yes you are absolutely right. Sorry for the long delay in responding - due to various distractions. Thanks for reminding me of the correct variant name. I had fun with this in the past.
