Update Requests for Bughouse

The team game of bughouse on chess.com is the best new thing to chess.com in a long time. But the variant is being held back due to an absence of integrity updates.

I am requesting chess.com to bring the following changes to the bughouse variant:

  1. If a player resigns, or forfeits from time, before their 4th move, the losing player is the only one that loses rating points so long as they have less than 3 games teamed up with their current partner.
  2. If a player resigns when both boards aren't losing, deeper into the game, they are punished for trolling and quitting games. This can also lead to rating points being refunded.
  3. Both partners have the power of hiding the other player's option to resign. Player A can press a button and now the other partner can't resign until he presses that button again to make it reappear.
  4. Show stats during the game near our name of the number of personal checkmates we've done in the bughouse mode so that people stop resigning when their partner loses a piece or takes 30 extra seconds at the start.

There's even an active 1500 player called moveslowandiresign. A 1900+ player also resigned because i took 20 seconds to reply sure. Then proceed to berate my dms saying i ruin bughouse.

there are some players who abort 40 games in a row, but other than it, it seems to be better than how it was 3+ weeks ago

I don't think bughouse should be rated at all. It's just for fun. Use, say, blitz ratings to make the pairings but it wouldn't change for bughouse. I think any bughouse rating system is meaningless, as with 4 players, 2 boards, and pieces flying around in circles, its not accurate. Say I'm a 1600 playing with a 700 rated partner (cause the pairing system is so screwed up), against a 1200 playing with a 400 rated partner. Now let's say I lose because the 700 blundered easily, and he only lost to a 400 because he was being helped by his 1200 rated partner through the chat, so the 700 loses and that's why I end up losing to the 1200 in the first place. It's circular reasoning, so how do you determine who gets/loses how many points? Everything is simultaneously affected by everything else. Its beyond just using team rating averages or whatever. So just make it unrated. And there should be an option where one can elect to play both boards instead of with a partner. That way he can control everything. Maybe he'd get an extra minute on each clock or something to compensate, unless he ended up playing another solo player who was doing the same thing, then it would be fair again.
