Variant concept: Merge Chess

So basically, it's chess but you can merge your pieces. Both players start with loads of pawns, but they won't stay pawns for long... Capturing a friendly piece will merge those pieces. The merged piece will become a piece of that value, or, if no pieces of that value are used in the game,
